Where to Eat and Drink in South Beach, Miami

Just a few weeks ago I was in South Beach Miami, my first trip to this world famous stretch of sand after I left Florida more than ten years ago and was looking forward to seeing how or if anything had changed during this time plus indulging in all the hype and excitement Miami beach offers. I got to see places and sights I had not seen before and discovered that the area not offers more than the wild partying it used to offer back then. Clubs that used to be the epicenter of it all are no longer as popular, and there’s a new art scene that should not be missed.

I was particularly surprised- and pleased- about the new culinary scene Miami beach is home to. Fantastic restaurants can be found offering all sorts of food for all budgets and I was lucky enough to try several of them, catering to different budgets yet all offering fantastic food. These are my best picks:

A Choice of Healthy and Tasty Lunches at Serendipity 3

Starting out in a basement in Manhattan’s upper east side in the 1950’s it is now also in Miami Beach’s Lincoln Road with a full dining menu and bar. Offering fantastic sandwiches, salads soups and meals it’s the desserts that really make this restaurant stand out. There are fantastic cakes to choose from as well as shakes, and if you really want to get a special one try the Frrozen Hot Chocolate , a huge, delicious blend of 17 kinds of chocolates frozen to perfection.

The photo of the chocolate sorbet doesn’t portray how big it really is. People walking by took double glances and even one lady whispered to her friend ” I wish I could have one of those!”

Perfect Italian Food at Cafe Prima Pasta

After 20 years this restaurant is still serving the same authentic Italian favorites that made it famous with celebrities such as Dwyane Wade, Shakira and Matt Damon (you’ll find photos of these and many more celebrities on its walls). Recognized by, it offers a wide range of traditional Italian entrees and appetizers characterized by their authenticity, freshness and variety at very reasonable rates. The restaurant is always busy so reservations are recommended and I have to admit that it is here that I have eaten some of the best Italian food anywhere-just look at the pictures below.

The food in Cafe Prima Pasta is some of the best Italian I have had anywhere. I particularly enjoyed the ravioli at the top right, which among other tasty ingredients included pear in the sauce. It’s their best selling dish!

I was a guest of these restaurants during my fam trip sponsored by the Miami and Beaches Visitor and Convention bureau. This said the food really is this good, the pictures are all mine and all opinions in this post are entirely my own.

  1. Great post! Coming to Miami in December and will try to check some of these places out. We used to live in NYC and Serendipity 3 was a favorite of ours, so would be nice to try it again!
